Chaddock Engineering - Railway/Footbridges Asset Pack

This pack contains three bridge packs by Chaddock Engineering. These models are for free distribution only, so you may not sell these. You may only use this for personal use, unless you have permission to upload it by Chaddock Engineering. You may not put this on a CD or DVD and publish without Chaddock Engineering's permission. We do not take any responsibility for any damaged caused to you, your computer, or anything which may be caused by this package.

 

The footbridges were developed for "Many Short Journeys" but can be used for many route applications, so we have provided them for all to use in route building. You will find that the components are packaged as bridges, stairs and pillars to support them. You will have to build them up from components and fit them to your own requirements (configuration and size). They follow the same theme as our bridge kit, so please enjoy. You will find that there are lights fitted for realism of the night and ensure that you get the benefit in you placement.

Railway Bridges come in all shapes and sizes to suit the location they are intended for, so this bridge kit is to try and allow replication of various configurations and sorry to say, in the process show the limitations as you build your railway/route.
The kit consists of three functional components to configure the bridges to any form you desire. These are the abutment end and central pillars, bridge decks of 30, 40 and 60 ft ish length. Further you can select the single or double track and open or closed decks as variants.

Further for those who are brave, there are isolated components to allow bridge building to their own design (from the bottom up!).

One issue in bridge building is the ability to cross/bridge things at an angle, in bridge terms this is call skew. The basic design of the bridge components has been fixed at a 90 degree angle to the feature its will bridge (In terms of civil engineering, 0 degree skew/straight across). What could be possible is to use the 60ft span and bridge say a double track railway at about 30 degrees skew (So there is some flexibility)
If you wish to go further than this, then you will have to use (I think) a different abutment, with the individual components.

 

Chaddock Engineerings Bridge Kit 2ft 3in Addon is an addon to the existing bridge kit, to give the availability of using the bridges with the 2ft 3in track, and rolling stock, available on UKTrainSim. This addon contains:

1. 30, 40 and 60ft timber baulks, at a width of 2ft 3in, for use with the open bridge decks supplied in the main bridge kit,
 

2. Rail only track, for use with the existing 2ft 3in track on UKTrainSim

Currently there are limitations. This is the fack that only a small amount of sakew can be used, in conjunction with the main bridge kit. At some point, in the probably distant future, I may create another addon to the bridge kit, for skewed bridges, but there is a long list of other things to do above that.
